The humidity in summer can be one of the worst things and can make things very uncomfortable. But a dehumidifier can remove allot of the moisture from the air in your home and make things much more comfortable.
A dehumidifier will not cool the air though so you will need some other means of making the room cooler such as a fan or air conditioning. Also remember that many air conditioning systems also remove moisture and so if you are planning on buying both you may not need a dehumidifier at all although if your room is particularly humid then an extra dehumidifier can often be useful.
